Government Publishes Initial Public Information For Visit Of Pope Francis

  • Visit to Apparition Chapel, Knock Shrine, Knock, Co. Mayo (9:45am)
  • Closing Mass for the World Meeting of Families, Phoenix Park, Dublin (3:00pm)

For anyone interested in attending these events, it is essential that they are aware of the following before committing to the event:

Get a ticket. Plan your transport. Prepare for a long journey.

Get a ticket

  • You need a ticket for either event
  • You will not able to attend both, as they are on the same day
  • Register for your ticket now, get the ticket closer to the time

Plan your transport

  • Decide how you will travel to your event in advance.
  • Public or group transport, especially coaches, will be prioritised.
  • A comprehensive transport plan is to be published in the coming weeks.
  • For Phoenix Park, a special travel ticket is going on sale soon that will enable people to get around the Dublin area easily.

Prepare for a long journey

  • You should plan your day from when you leave your house to when you return
  • Long periods of walking and standing are unavoidable at both events.
  • There will be a range of supports – rest zones, welfare areas, medical facilities, and a team of volunteers – that will be there to help those making the journey.

While disruption is unavoidable for a Visit of this scale, the Government is aiming to ensure that any disruption to businesses and individuals due to the Visit is minimised as much as possible.
Necessary alternative arrangements are being developed and will be communicated to those impacted well in advance.
More information will be rolled out in the coming weeks for those who may be affected.
