Taoiseach Enda Kenny was joined by Public Expenditure and Reform Minister, Paschal Donohoe last night to announce the winners of the 2016 Civil Service Excellence and Innovation Awards.

The annual awards, which this year took place in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin, publicly recognise excellence and innovation and showcase best practice in Civil Service organisations.

Among this year's winners were members of staff in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for Excellence In Customer Service during Euros 2016 in France; and a number of departments involved in the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme for Citizen Impact.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Donohoe said:

"The award winning projects this year are great examples of the good success stories in the Civil Service. They also show the tremendous range of complex work that the Civil Service does every day to support the Government and deliver public services. We are fostering a culture of innovation in the Civil Service and these awards demonstrate the high levels of innovation and excellence and the diversity of roles across the organisation."
