Minister Bruton opens classroom extension for Naíscoil Íde, Raheny

Over €750,000 invested in new classroom accommodation for school
The Minister for Education and Skills, Mr. Richard Bruton T.D., today opened the new school building extension for Naíscoil Íde, Raheny. The modern, state of the art, facilities provide bright and spacious new classroom accommodation in a new 2 storey building.
This additional classroom accommodation for Naíscoil Íde was delivered under the Department’s School Prefab Replacement Initiative. Construction work on the project commenced in September 2016 last.

The official opening of the extension was performed today by Minister Bruton.

Minister Bruton said:

““I am delighted to join John Swords, Chair, Board of Management, Fr. Paul Dunne, Raheny Parish, Clare Ring, the Principal, her staff and the parents and pupils of Naíscoil Íde today to mark the official opening of their new extension. They deserve great credit for their work over the years. Through the Action Plan for Education, which aims to make the Irish education and training service the best in Europe, we are investing hundreds of millions every year under our school capital investment programme to provide new schools and extensions to benefit thousands of students across the country. Today is a great day for the whole school community. The children in Raheny will now greatly benefit from these new state of the art facilities.”


Notes to editor

Naíscoil Íde, All Saints Drive, Raheny is an infant school catering for children in the Raheny area. There were over 400 pupils enrolled in the school in September 2016.

The school which caters for both boys and girls operates under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin.

The architect for the project was Lorcan Green and associates and the contract was awarded to DEMAC Construction following competitive tender.
