Minister Humphreys pays tribute to James Osborne

The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has expressed her sadness on hearing of the death of Mr James Osborne, Chairman of the Irish Heritage Trust. Mr Osborne served as a Director of the Trust from the time it was established in 2006 and has served as its Chairman since November 2012.

Speaking earlier today, the Minister offered her sympathy and condolences to Mr. Osborne’s family and also expressed her gratitude for his dedication and enthusiasm to the heritage sector over the years.

“James’ tenure as Chairman of the Irish Heritage Trust was very successful. Under his leadership, the Trust has made a huge contribution to the preservation and enjoyment of some of our most important heritage buildings, from Fota House and Gardens to the Dublin Tenement Experience, new initiatives at Strokestown Park and the planned regeneration of Johnstown Castle, Estate and Gardens in Wexford.

“James’ legacy in the heritage area is a significant one and he will be very sadly missed. I would like to express my sincere condolences to James’ family and friends at this difficult time.”
