Minister McEntee launches Connecting for Life - South Tipperary

Minister of State for Mental Health Helen McEntee today launched Connecting for Life - South Tipperary, a new five year suicide prevention and self-harm plan for the area. This is the local implementation of Connecting for Life, Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce Suicide.
Speaking at the launch, Minister McEntee said “This action plan for South Tipperary is based on the same vision, goals, objectives and measurable outcomes as outlined in the national strategy. It sets out a vision where fewer lives are lost through suicide, and where communities and individuals are empowered to improve their mental health and wellbeing.”
The Minister went on to thank all those involved, “South Tipperary Suicide Prevention Planning Group (SPPG) was established in September 2015, with the aim of developing an integrated action plan to assist in the prevention of suicide and self-harm and the promotion of positive mental health in South Tipperary. The plan launched today is the result of the hard work of a huge number of individuals, community groups, statutory and non-government agencies, working together to promote positive mental health. I congratulate all involved in the creation of this plan.”
