Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath TD today officially opened new day service facility “The Lodge” in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin as part of the Prosper Group.

In opening the facility the Minister paid tribute to the philanthropy of the Reilly family who, he said: “have been championing the causes of people with disabilities in the area for almost 50 years”.

The Minister continued: “Innovative facilities such as The Lodge allow people with a disability to live independent lives, exercise greater independence in accessing the services they choose, and enhance their ability to meet their needs and plan their lives. “

The Lodge will create new and exciting opportunities for the individuals who will attend the facility, through activities such as leisure, health and volunteering, the last of which Minister McGrath was particularly pleased to see, as in his view: “ Volunteers are motivated by values such as justice, equality and freedom and form the backbone of any community."

The Minister also acknowledged the work of Prosper Fingal, the HSE, the people of Fingal and in particular Balbriggan for their support both past and future in the development of this marvellous facility.
