The Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, T.D., today announced a €10m grant for the country’s 14 Institutes of Technology to address their most critical health and safety, infrastructure and ICT needs.

The grant will ensure that the Institutes can fund a range of small-scale building works, refurbish existing facilities and / or upgrade equipment. This funding is being made to the Institutes by the Department of Education and Skills through the Higher Education Authority.
Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD said: “I am pleased to announce this €10 million grant as a clear signal of the Government’s commitment to addressing the most urgent infrastructural needs among the Institutes of Technology. This is the third year in a row that such a grant has been provided. The funding will allow Institutes to undertake necessary improvement works, address urgent health and safety concerns, and to commence programmes of equipment renewal including upgrade of IT facilities. It is a hugely important investment for the sector. In deployment of the grant, each of the Institutes of Technology must ensure value for money, clear prioritisation and demonstrable impact on the capacity of the Institute to deliver on its strategic goals, and this must be demonstrated.”

The €10 million grant will be divided among the Institutes of Technology on the basis of their enrolments. There are three enrolment based bands and the funding to be allocated to each Institute is set out in the table below.
