Varadkar welcomes decisive yes vote in INMO ballot

Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has welcomed the clear ‘yes’ vote on the ballot by INMO Emergency Department nurses.
Members voted to accept the package of measures designed by the Workplace Relations Commission to ease Emergency Department overcrowding.
“I welcome this decisive ‘yes’ vote by Emergency Department INMO members who voted by a margin of 71% to accept the measures proposed by the Workplace Relations Commission. I can assure staff of my personal commitment to seeing that the agreement is implemented in full.
“We are making progress in reducing ED overcrowding. The number of patients on trollies today is 20% lower than it was this day last year, in spite of the influenza outbreak. This shows that our plan is working but there is a long way to go yet. We will need sustained actions and improvements over the coming years and I am more determined than ever to see that through'
