Minister Donohoe announces the appointment of Mr Ultan Courtney to the Board of CIÉ and as Chairman Designate of Dublin Bus

The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr Paschal Donohoe, TD today (Wednesday) announced that he has appointed Mr. Ultan Courtney as the Chairman Designate of Dublin Bus for a three year period, following approval by Cabinet.

Mr. Courtney’s appointment is subject to ratification by the Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications, which he is scheduled to attend later this month. The Government has also given approval today for Mr. Courtney’s appointment as a Director of CIÉ.

Mr. Courtney is currently a Managing Director at Courtney HR.   Previously he held very senior HR positions in Superquinn and C&C Group and has been a consultant since 2008.  

Minister Donohoe said: ‘I was happy to propose Mr. Courtney as a Director to the Board of CIÉ and as Chairman of Dublin Bus. Mr. Courtney brings with him a set of skills that I know will be valued in both positions, with an academic background that is strong on economics, employment law and corporate legal governance. I wish him luck in his new roles’.
