Useful statistics to know this week

While the big focus this week has been the Budget, we have seen some other positive indicators released as well. Construction continued to see increases in September while exports rose in August. Steady increase in construction

  • The monthly Construction Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) saw further increases, reaching 61.5 in September
  • Housing was particularly strong, recording 68.4
  • Employment in the sector continued to rise

Exports up 6% this August compared to last year

  • Seasonally adjusted exports increased by €1,465 million (+23%) to €7,975 million compared with July 2014
  • That’s an increase of 6% compared with August 2013
  • This month also saw a trade surplus of 3,344 million euro
  • A major driver of this growth was the export of Organic Chemicals, which increased by +31%
