President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, presented Mr Ó Domhnaill with his seal of office at a ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin this evening (12 March 2014).

Speaking at the event, the Minister of State said: "I greatly welcome this appointment. Rónán Ó Domhnaill is very well qualified for the position of An Coimisinéir Teanga and I have no doubt that his personal commitment to the Irish language, and his extensive professional experience, will greatly benefit him in his new position. I wish him the very best as he takes up this important office."
