Taoiseach launches Seachtain na Gaeilge

Taoiseach Enda Kenny today launched Seachtain na Gaeilge at Government Buildings. The international Irish language festival, which takes place from 5th - 17th March 2012, is celebrating 110 years in existence this year.

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Lá Gaeilge is taking place in the Houses of the Oireachtas tomorrow. Dáil business such as Leaders' Questions will be conducted through Irish and statements on the language will be heard. Irish language debates are also scheduled to take place in the Seanad.

Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs Dinny McGinley will talk about the role of Seachtain na Gaeilge in promoting the Irish language at an event in Club Chonradh na Gaeilge, Dublin later today to conclude the launch of the festival.
