Minister McConalogue launches Pet Portal

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D., today announced the launch a pet travel information on-line portal, bringing together in one location information about pet travel into Ireland.

Minister McConalogue stated, ‘‘I am very pleased to launch this Pet Portal which will assist pet owners who plan to travel to Ireland, in providing them with all the necessary information on what is needed when travelling with their pets. This is a user-friendly portal which also provides information for people travelling with assistance dogs, transiting Ireland with pets, travelling or relocating out of Ireland with pets. I know that for people transporting their pets can be a stressful time so I hope this new portal will greatly assist pet owners.”

The information is filtered by species and the country of origin, resulting in tailored advice.

This portal will assist Irish pet owners living abroad who wish to return with their pet, as well as tourists who want to bring their pet on holidays to Ireland. The requirements ensure Ireland remains disease-free.
