Minister McGrath publishes the Sixth Tranche of the Spending Review papers for 2021

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath TD, today Friday November 19th, published the sixth tranche of Spending Review papers as part of the 2021 Spending Review process.

The spending review is a key platform for evidence informed policy making across the Civil Service. Supported by Irish Government Economic and Evaluation Service (IGEES) staff now working directly in all Departments, the process has become a focal point for the broad range of analysis ongoing across the Civil Service.

The papers published today relate to the areas of social protection; education, transport and enterprise supports.

Welcoming the publication of the reviews, the Minister stated: “These spending review papers provide valuable insights across the policy areas in question, including Covid-19. Government invested significantly to protect jobs and businesses throughout the pandemic and it is important to review the impact of the decisions taken so that we can inform our future policy responses.”

A further tranche of spending review papers will be released next week, reflecting a significant amount of ongoing work across departments. The papers published today, in addition to spending review papers published previously, are available on the gov.ie website.
