National Treatment Purchase Fund Special Audit Programme 2018 published

Minister for Health Simon Harris TD has today (Friday) noted the findings of the National Treatment Purchase Fund Special Audit Programme 2018, which have been published on the Department's website.

Under the NTPF Audit Programme 2018, nine hospitals were audited over the period January-November 2018. The NTPF audits provided limited assurance that hospital waiting lists are being managed in line with national protocols and recommended corrective actions be put in place.

The national protocols are intended to ensure there is a consistent and standardised approach to the management and scheduling of patients on hospital waiting lists.

The Minister for Health welcomes the acknowledgement by each Hospital of the audit findings and their commitment to implementing the recommendations arising from them.

Noting the findings of the NTPF Audit Programme, Minister Harris said

The NTPF audit function plays a key role in providing independent objective assurance that the quality and accuracy of the hospital waiting lists data returned by hospitals are in line with national waiting list management protocols.
