Minister O'Sullivan presents BT Young Scientists Award

Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan today presented students Maria Louise Fufezan (16) and Diana Bura (15) from Loreto Secondary School Balbriggan with the overall prize at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
The winning project was entitled 'An Investigation into the Effects of Enzymes used in Animal Feed Additives on the Lifespan of Caenorhabditis Elegans'. Maria and Diana were in the group intermediate section of the biological & ecological sciences category and were presented with a cheque for Eur5,000, the opportunity to represent Ireland at the 28th European Union Young Scientist competition in Brussels later this year and the BTYSTE perpetual trophy.
Almost 1,200 students from across the island of Ireland covering 550 projects from 29 counties competed in the RDS for the title.
