Record-breaking crowds of over 40,000 are expected to generate more than €1m per day in sales at this year’s five-day National Crafts and Design Fair, which opened at the RDS today.

The Fair, which was opened by Business and Employment Minister Ged Nash, is the biggest indoor craft event ever held in this country.

The very best of Ireland's top craftspeople and designers in areas from fashion to jewellery, ceramics, textiles, woodcraft, photography and art are exhibiting at the country's largest celebration of crafts with over 600 stands this year – up 8% on 2014.

Every time that you purchase a product from a designer, craftmaker or artisan you are supporting that person and their family’s livelihood as well as their local community.

... said Minister Nash.

By choosing to support craft businesses, every consumer who attends this annual Craft and Design Fair can play their part in sustaining and growing jobs in the craft sector both here in Ireland and for our overseas exhibitors.

The National Crafts and Design Fair 2015 takes place at the RDS Main Hall from December 2-6 from 10am each day.  Full details and booking can be found at www.nationalcraftsfair.ie
