Minister Byrne to meet Portuguese Secretary of State

Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D., will meet with his Portuguese counterpart, Secretary of State Tiago Antunes, today, 9 November, during Mr. Antunes two-day visit to Dublin.

Minister Byrne will exchange views on a range of European issues of common interest with Secretary of State Antunes, including Ukraine, EU relations with the UK, and economic governance issues.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Minister Byrne said:

“I am delighted to welcome my Portuguese colleague, Secretary of State Antunes, to Dublin today. As two Atlantic-facing countries on the western periphery of Europe with rich historical and cultural ties, Portugal is an important economic and political partner for Ireland, both bilaterally, within the EU and at the UN. I look forward to our discussions today on a number of EU priorities, including the EU’s ongoing response to Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war in Ukraine.”
