“Entangled Islands” Exhibition on the Irish and the Caribbean

The exhibition ‘Entangled Islands’, exploring Irish historical links with the Caribbean region, was formally launched today by Seán Fleming TD, Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora.

Entangled Islands was developed and curated by EPIC Historian-in-Residence Dr. Catherine Healy, delving into centuries of remarkable connections between our island and the Caribbean region.

The exhibition will also be shown in the Caribbean region, as part of Ireland’s deepening of engagement with the region through the Global Ireland Strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean to 2025.

Minister Fleming said:

“Entangled Islands’ is a striking exploration of Ireland and the Caribbean in history. Some stories are known, others are fresh and newly brought to light. Overall, this is a compelling collection of stories drawn from extraordinary personal and societal histories.

Dr Catherine Healy’s exhibition joins a series of fascinating EPIC Museum exhibitions revealing the complex history of the Irish abroad.”

The exhibition runs until February 2024 in Dublin at the EPIC Museum of Irish Emigration.
