President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, travels to Austria for Ministerial bilateral and engagement with young people at European Forum Alpbach

President of the Eurogroup and Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery, and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, travels to Austria today.

He will deliver a keynote speech at the European Forum Alpbach which brings together young people with representatives from politics, business, civil society, and academia to exchange on European topics. He will discuss coordination of economic and financial policies in the euro area and give his perspective on how better integrated capital markets can contribute to European economic and financial sovereignty. He will also participate in a fireside chat event, exchanging views with young people participating in the conference.

Tomorrow (Thursday, 31 August) Minister Donohoe will have a bilateral meeting with the Austrian Federal Minister of Finance, Magnus Brunner, to discuss the main work priorities for the Eurogroup for the second part of the year.

Ahead of his visit Minister Donohoe stated:

“I look forward to meeting my Eurogroup colleague Minister Brunner to discuss the main issues on our agenda in the coming months. Budgetary policy coordination among euro area countries, and progress on key files as we approach the end of the current legislative cycle, are essential for ensuring both stability, as well as growth and investment in the euro area.

“I am also very pleased to participate in this year’s European Forum Alpbach, particularly the opportunity to discuss economic and financial policies in the EU with young people from around Europe and beyond.”
